Anunnaki: Sumerian Sky-Beings

Sumerian cuneiform tablets from 3500 BCE onwards describe the Anunnaki, celestial beings who 'descended from the heavens' and brought civilisation, agriculture and writing. Enlil and Enki are the dominant figures. Researcher Zecharia Sitchin reinterpreted these as extraterrestrial visitors from a 12th planet 'Nibiru'; mainstream scholarship treats them as deities. Either way, the Anunnaki are among the earliest written accounts of intelligent beings from the sky.
